ZAHN CUPS

Zahn Cup are designed to ASTM D4212-93. Zahn Cups are used to measure the viscosity of
Newtonian liquids. Portable and light-weight, they are utilized in workshops, factories, and laboratories to measure paint, ink, syrups, oil, laquer, varnish in many industries. Our Zahn Cups are manufactured to measure the viscosity of liquids in Zahn seconds "the time required for a steady stream to stop flowing from the calibrated orifice at the bottom of the cup".

There are five Zahn cup specifications, labeled Zahn cup #, where # is the number from one through five. Large number cup sizes are used when viscosity is high, while low number cup sizes are used when viscosity is low.

To determine the viscosity of a liquid, the Zahn cup is dipped and completely filled with the liquid. After lifting the Zahn cup out of the liquid, the stopwatch is started to measure the time until the liquid streaming out of the Zahn cup stops flowing as a stream and breaks up, this is the corresponding "efflux time".

Cautions:

• Like all measurement equipment and instruments, employees must be taught to perform the test correctly and repeatably. 
• All Zahn Cups are not created equal. Cheap knockoffs available through Amazon or EBay or Aliexpress are not the same as when purchased through reputable supplier like us that stand behind their product.
• Our Zahn Cup comes with a Certificate that states and measures multiple times the Orifice Size, and Flow time at two positions. The allowed deviation on a random pulled certificate is 85 times less than the Allowed Deviation!
